Tom had an early shift this morning. I’m talking as in has to get up at 4:00 am and be all the way downtown early. It was a half day though so at least he can come home and grab a nap so he isn’t passing out on me on our Friday night ‘drinkie night’..
So he gets home, grabs something to eat and then announces he’s going to go have his nap. About ten minutes later or so I get up and go for a walk outside to clear my head. I didn’t want to take my purse with me so I unsnapped the divider in the keys (I have too damn many on the ring) and take half with me and step out into the hallway. Just as I shut the door I realized I had the wrong half.
It was one of those moments when your internal voice just goes. uhohhhh”
Crap!
I had my cell with me so I tried calling. Tom didn’t answer right away, I was hoping he wasn’t just ignoring the phone. I was then thinking that maybe I would have to go right outside and go all up to the window that is just off the bedroom and try to call to him over the sound of the fan.
Standing outside the door feeling rather helpless I heard the welcome noise of the cordless phone’s in the kitchen’s beep. Tom was checking the call display to see who called.
I knocked rather sheepishly and I heard him chuckle on the other side and he opened the door and let me in.
Now he didn’t even tease me despite the fact I have NEVER let him live down the fact he locked himself out of our hotel room in Buffalo in his ‘pajamas’ (sweats and socks) after he put our breakfast dishes outside the door.
I was already stepping in the shower when I heard this steady knock on the door. I’m yelling “Tom? Can you get that I’m in the shower?” … “Tom? Honey someone is at the door”… “Tom?… ohhhh”. Wrapping a towel around myself I went to the door and looked through the peep-hole and saw Tom looking rather sheepish himself. When I opened the door he looked probably as relieved as I was today and I called him a “Dork”. And he was a dork but it was said with love.
So now we’re a matched set, in more ways than one.

I took today and tomorrow off work to give myself a short vacation from work related stress.
How is it going so far?
Well this morning I got up early (6:30 am) to drive the Boy to work (sucker!) and then turned around and drove Sean to school (sucker again!). I’ve done two loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned all the crap off the various horizontal surfaces the boys think are for putting their shit on and polished said surfaces all before 9:30 am.
I think I need to look up the meaning of the word vacation day.

It started out as just an egg timer and I tried, I really tried NOT to buy any more of these darn chick kitchen gizmos. But… I couldn’t help myself, they are too friggin cute! Now I have a little community. The egg cups/spoons and egg slicer were added to the family today.

I looked at the company website. There is even MORE Jo!e crap to buy!
Damn!

Why is it that even though the Boys left to go stay at their Father’s YESTERDAY the place still smells of unwashed socks and sweat? Why is personal hygiene such a foreign concept with teenage boys? OK, maybe I’m not being fair lumping all teenage boys into the same category considering my recent experience is with the two we’ve got living with us, but man! Thank God for Airwick. Oh yeah and doors that close.
There is this Fabreeze commercial where the Mom goes into her Kid’s room and sprays the air, then bedclothes then opens his closet and sprays in there. Afterwards she BURIES her face in the stuff! There is no way in hell this face will go that close to anything in their room. I’m surprised most everything in there hasn’t already developed legs and walked out on its own. Even just for self preservation.

I found myself driving through lake Slurrey on my way to my parking spot tonight. It would appear the torrential downpour from today was a wee too much for our drains to deal with.

‘Gate Lake’

Freddy in harbour on the middle slip of ‘Lake Holyshitimsinking’
These pictures in no way do the size of the puddles justice, I was almost afraid that they would swallow my little Freddy whole and me along with it. I’m considering inquiring if sonar and a periscope would be an optional add-on to the Mazda 3.
Ok I exaggerate a titch but man, this seriously messed up weather must stop.
We had damn well better get an awesome summer to make up for this stinking Fall/Winter!
