Wow that was quick!

Our Joe Average print arrived in the mail today! I just ordered it on the weekend, so, cool! Right now it’s safely back in it’s protective cardboard shipping container but I grabbed a quick shot of it first (forgive the flare from the flash it was a quicky photo.)

Joe Average - Born to Pollinate 008

We’re going to have to search out a good local frame shop to get it properly framed and then we can figure out where on the walls it will find it’s home.

It is so gorgeous and colourful! I’m going to have to step it up and add some colour to our place too.

…and I’m a Rossaholic. Have I said this before? I’m sure I have.

I haven’t seen the top of my dresser in like MONTHS. I had nowhere to put half the crap I own and today, well I decided to tackle the mountain of clothing and the messy walk-in closet and do a clean and purge.

When I first started it wasn’t so bad, I mean there was a lot of stuff on the bed but it got worse and worse as I started bringing stuff out of the closet and the drawers to decide what was going to stay and what had to go.

When I took a good look around at what was piled EVERYWHERE I exclaimed “Oh my God I have too much shit!” It is quite something to have it all surrounding you at one time.

I’m telling ya, there was a lot that had to go but I’m STILL at maximum storage with what I’m keeping. You KNOW this isn’t the end of it either because I will buy more, I will and I will have to find more room because I love what I kept.

I have two small drawers full of socks, I mean full. I can’t wear that many socks. I actually got RID of some socks rather than go through the pain of matching them (they were all black). What does that say? Too damn many socks that’s what.

Cinny was into everything every second she could be. I had to keep kicking her out of the drawers, pushing her away from the piles of clothing so she wouldn’t knock them over and order her out of the closet.. I can’t count how many times. After a while she just gave up and camped out on some clothes.

We have a massive amount of clothing that Tom took down to his car (not just all mine, his and the boys too). We’re going to try and find a donation bin or two tomorrow. I’m just excited that we can see the floor of the walk in closet.

Clean drawers, at least for now….

Clothing storage bins in the walk in closet (with sweaters on the racks)

I’m just excited seeing the top of my dresser again. It needs dusting and organizing but it is a surface again instead of a clothing pile. I’ve accomplished at least one thing I set out to do on this vacation.

Dork

July 6, 2007

Tom had an early shift this morning. I’m talking as in has to get up at 4:00 am and be all the way downtown early. It was a half day though so at least he can come home and grab a nap so he isn’t passing out on me on our Friday night ‘drinkie night’..

So he gets home, grabs something to eat and then announces he’s going to go have his nap. About ten minutes later or so I get up and go for a walk outside to clear my head. I didn’t want to take my purse with me so I unsnapped the divider in the keys (I have too damn many on the ring) and take half with me and step out into the hallway. Just as I shut the door I realized I had the wrong half.

It was one of those moments when your internal voice just goes. uhohhhh”

Crap!

I had my cell with me so I tried calling. Tom didn’t answer right away, I was hoping he wasn’t just ignoring the phone. I was then thinking that maybe I would have to go right outside and go all up to the window that is just off the bedroom and try to call to him over the sound of the fan.

Standing outside the door feeling rather helpless I heard the welcome noise of the cordless phone’s in the kitchen’s beep. Tom was checking the call display to see who called.

I knocked rather sheepishly and I heard him chuckle on the other side and he opened the door and let me in.

Now he didn’t even tease me despite the fact I have NEVER let him live down the fact he locked himself out of our hotel room in Buffalo in his ‘pajamas’ (sweats and socks) after he put our breakfast dishes outside the door.

I was already stepping in the shower when I heard this steady knock on the door. I’m yelling “Tom? Can you get that I’m in the shower?” … “Tom? Honey someone is at the door”… “Tom?… ohhhh”. Wrapping a towel around myself I went to the door and looked through the peep-hole and saw Tom looking rather sheepish himself. When I opened the door he looked probably as relieved as I was today and I called him a “Dork”. And he was a dork but it was said with love.

So now we’re a matched set, in more ways than one.

Mini-break?

June 14, 2007

I took today and tomorrow off work to give myself a short vacation from work related stress.

How is it going so far?

Well this morning I got up early (6:30 am) to drive the Boy to work (sucker!) and then turned around and drove Sean to school (sucker again!). I’ve done two loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned all the crap off the various horizontal surfaces the boys think are for putting their shit on and polished said surfaces all before 9:30 am.

I think I need to look up the meaning of the word vacation day.

Jo!e

June 9, 2007

It started out as just an egg timer and I tried, I really tried NOT to buy any more of these darn chick kitchen gizmos. But… I couldn’t help myself, they are too friggin cute! Now I have a little community. The egg cups/spoons and egg slicer were added to the family today.
