Behind Blue Eyes

The expressions on these two say it all about them

Yet another gorgeous day here and yet again I’m inside. What is wrong with me? Oh yeah I’m avoiding crowds, plus it would be lonely :(

In order to ensure we get some good breezage going in here the windows were opened as soon as we got up. For fun I also pulled up the blinds for Cinny to check out all the bird action going on out there. We normally keep the blinds down because A.) we live on the ground floor and B.) we live right by the main door. Hello lookyloos!

The sock on the floor is one of mine. Nutmeg discovered that particular sock is VERY soft and he kind of claimed them for himself as a toy which he loves to rub on his face. Of course from my perspective he’s more borrowing it than keeping it.

Slimy Life

June 28, 2008

I’ve mentioned before how the boys can be gross pigs.

Well Chris just proved it once again in abscentia. I’ve been trying to air out their room as it’s been smelling kind of funky. I had the sliding door to their room open all day with a fan going to try and get some fresh air in there but man I tell ya it still was smelling blech. I know part of the problem is the amount of dirty laundry they have stored up (they do the BARE minimum of what is needed leaving stuff they don’t wear much) but there are also a bunch of smells that I just couldn’t place. Tonight as I went in to close the door I passed by Chris’ desk and got a whiff of something kind of sour. I saw there was a beer can sitting there. Chris hasn’t had a canned beer in a LONGGGG time. I reluctantly picked it up and shook it and sure enough there was probably about a quarter of the can sloshing around in there. I took a tentative whiff.  Trust me THAT is brave of me cos I have the MOST sensitive nose and bad smells will send me gagging. I yanked my head back quickly oh MY GOD it smelled bad.

I took it into the boys bathroom (no way were those contents gonna come near the kitchen sink and poured it into their toilet) out came some VERY brown liquid (no where near beer colour) and as I was bent down pouring something slimy dislodged from the can and fell into the toilet with a splash and UP came the brown tinged toilet water INTO MY FACE AND HAIR.

I IMMEDIATELY pressed my lips together as some of the liquid had hit me just below the nose and RAN to our bathroom and scrubbed my face and leaped into the shower and SCRUBBED some more cursing the boy with the PIGGIEST of children when he has them. UGH!!!!! Chris is VERY lucky he is several blocks away at his Father’s place this weekend!!

To add a cherry to that, Nutmeg decided to once again exit the cat litter box with poo stuck to his keister and decided to do his bum drag race through the house with me screaming STOPPPPPPPPPPP behind him.

I am now nursing my trauma with a cold glass of Vex Cranberry hard lemonade. The side benefit is if any of the liquid happened to make it’s way near my mouth the alcohol will disinfect.

Nothin’ for Nothin’

June 28, 2008

Had my GP visit this week to have my pre-surgical physical which is required before any kind of scheduled surgery. There were forms for him to complete and fax off to the hospital and now it’s a waiting game.
Doc's visit

Ugh way to show the double chin heh.

From what I understand now, the hospital gets with the surgeon’s office and they will in turn call me with my surgical date. I was told if I don’t hear in a few weeks to give them a call. Hopefully they will call me though cos man I got enough stuff I have to remember in my life. Still no more attacks but just the odd twinge in the area. Oh well, like I know what will set it off next time anyway.

We’ve finally hit the warmer weather here in the Vancouver area, a tad late and from what I’ve seen rather short lived but hey I will take it. Of course I’m sitting here in side the cave of our condo rather than actually outside in the nice weather but I know it’s out there and at least if I can keep the windows open today it won’t turn into an oven in here. I just wish we had a balcony that I could sit on and enjoy the sunshine or even better yet a back yard, cos I really don’t feel like going anywhere today. It’s kind of boring to go anywhere by myself anyway. Sitting on our patio would mean sitting in the shade (we get NO direct sun) and watching the people who comes to the front door stare. Um no thanks.

For some this is a long weekend. For me? Not so much. I worked Friday and will be working Monday as well cos I’m hopin’ some of the issues that are outstanding on the project I’m working on will be resolved soon and I wanted to keep my days open until Vacation. I’ve got the Tuesday off for Canada Day along with Tom so that’s somethin’ anyway. I am DYING for my vacation in August. Yeah I can’t go too far cos of the GB (unless by some freaky chance they call me to have my surgery in July) but we can at least go SOMEWHERE. I’m thinking we will head over to the Island, maybe Tofino and then do some day trips around here. I just NEED A BREAK FROM WORK and some Family time, this project is killing meeeee. We’re also planning on taking a few of the days and doing a big purge. We are in sore need of storage space and that would be a perfect time to take care of it.

The Missing Lynx -Sticky Post- Update, Adopted!!

June 26, 2008

Stripey has been adopted!! I checked her Petfinder link this morning (October 17th, as I seem to do weekly) and saw the news on her profile. Yay!

Update: I’m making this a sticky post for a while. Newer posts will be below this one. I was quite sad to see that this cat is still showing as available and I REALLY want her to get a good home.

I had been haunting the Surrey SPCA’s webpage watching to see if that sweet little pregnant Lynx Point stray was up for adoption. I had called them a few times during the week she was on hold for the owner to show up (may they rot I might add) but they never did and they kept saying she was doing well. I then got stuck in a loop never getting through the following week. My lovely Boss and friend Linda had been touched by her plight and had considered maybe taking her in herself but as it turns out with the two furry friends she has already in her house it just wouldn’t work out. She did however manage to find out that the cat I kept calling stripey (I didn’t want to name her really as that would get me way too attached, cough, like I wasn’t already) has been moved to a no-kill shelter called Katie’s Place out in Maple Ridge. A reminder of how cute she is..

Corn Fed

June 23, 2008

Nothin’ says summer to me more than corn and new potatoes! We already had them for dinner late last week but heck they are only in the stores for a short period of time all fresh like and stuff so have to make hay while the suns shines. They accompanied chicken done a la Shake’n'bake. Yeah I’m a gourmet! Can’t go too far wrong with that stuff though, keeps the chicken really moist. I had to try this new crispy ranch flavour and mmm not too shabby!

corn 'n taters

For the last few minutes while I was waiting for the corn n tatties to finish up I was bored and was playing with the camera…

Seconds before I lift the lid ehh ehh?
