Unseen Unclean

April 20, 2008

Busy weekend we had! Friday night Tom was working ’til Midnight and had to drive home through the slush that had accumulated. I was waiting up for him and we had a couple of drinks and then slept in Saturday morning. Mother phoned wanting to know if we could pick her up a few odds and ends she remembered she needed and wanted us to pick her up a new vacuum cleaner. Luckily we would be in her area anyway as we had to drop the cats off at the Vets.

Rounding them up was fun (not!) They were fast asleep on the bed when I started pulling down their carrying cages and Tom noticed that their heads snapped up when they heard that sound. Nutmeg took off hiding under the table and Cinny hid under the bed. No amount of bribery or coaxing got them to come out. Both were grabbed forcibly and shoved in their cases. Oh the GUILT! Both of us felt crummy doing this to them but not like there is any choice! They howled the whole way there in the car and when we got to the vets the attendant there heard us come in and said “Oh there’s Cinnamon!” yeah she’s very well known there.

We went to the mall picked up my Mom’s stuff, dropped it off and Tom put together the vacuum and gave Mom a lesson on how to use it. I still think she’s gonna get confused! We had Chinese for dinner and some wine after dinner.

Today was all about the cleaning. I HAVE to come home to a clean house after a trip. I’m usually so completely fried after travel (especially across timezones) and this gives me a happy zen feeling when I return.

I had scrubbed everything in the kitchen, dining and living rooms, vacuumed, dusted etc and I was gonna just leave the Boys bathroom (Tom was cleaning ours and doing the bedroom and laundry) but I happened to notice something wet under the mat in front of the cat’s litter box. It is there to catch the bits that catch on the cat’s feet as they exit. I pulled it up and to my HORROR there was this SLIME under there which smelled like poo. So now I knew there was slimey poo water under there I had to clean. It seems that one of them, I’m guessing Sean had lets water out when he had a shower. I constantly nag at them to ensure that the curtain is properly inside (sigh). When the water got under the plastic it just fermented and took on the smells around. Oh my god how GROSS.

So I grabbed plastic bags and put them on my hands and cleaned their bathroom top to bottom. Now I’m skeeving. UNCLEAN UNCLEAN!

I still have to figure out what the heck I’m gonna take with me and yanno, actually PACK. I need to have a shower too. It’s up at the crack of ridiculous in the morning to make our EARLY flight. Buh.

WTF?

April 18, 2008

Yes, snow. In Vancouver. In friggin APRIL!!!

We have had the SUCKIEST Winter and so far the SUCKIEST-EST Spring. This is not boding well for a nice Summer. Buh!

Usually we don’t get much snow period, and even if we do it’s a couple of blasts a couple of days and it is gone. The pattern I’ve always remembered was December for snow number one and February for snow number two. Usually over by Valentine’s day.

Gonna be strange going from this to the balmy 80 plus degree weather that I’ve seen in the forecast in Georgia.

Goodbye Stranger

April 17, 2008

Today when I was out for my “walk”  I was out in front of our building and this older fella was shuffling up the street. When I say shuffling up the street I literally mean street. He was bypassing the sidewalk and walking up the middle of our cul-de-sac.

When he got up to where I was he looks at me and says “you outside in the sunshine” It wasn’t a question it was more like a statement. I looked up at the clouds where just a tiny bit of blue was poking through and said “Uh yeah.”

“What else?” he asks

So now I’m thinkin’ ok just maybe being conversational but maybe a teeny bit eccentric.

Me: “Nothing else, just umm enjoying being outside”

Him: “You live there?” he points to our building.

“Yep sure do!” I smile

Him: “So do I”

Me: “Ah ok..”

Him: “Can I come in with you?”

Me: (thinking) …. whut?

Okay, so by now I’m really starting to think perhaps this dude shouldn’t be wandering the streets.

Me: (saying) “Pardon me?”

Him: “Can I come into your place with you?”

Me: “Ummm I don’t think so”

Him: “Why not”

Me: “My Husband wouldn’t like it very much”

Him: “Why not?”

Me: “Bringing home a strange man” (whoooeee she thinks fast on her feet)

Him: “I’m not strange”

Me: (thinking) “Oh buddy I got news for ya”

Me: (saying) “Well…”

Him: (cutting me off) “I don’t think I want to come home with you, is that alright?” (giving me a wide berth and walking backwards away from me.)

Me: “Okey dokey…” :)

He shuffles off, still kinda sorta in the middle of our cul-de-sac occasionally looking back over his shoulder like I’m the devil and I’m gonna pounce or something. I keep an eye on him and I’m waiting for him to turn into our building, BZZZ not so much. He keeps walking and crosses over to the other side of the street. He then talks to an older woman who I’m thinking, ok maybe she knows him.

Ummm NOPE cos he shuffles into the building across the street and she stops and gives him the strangest look. I’m thinking he probably asked to go home with her too.

And here I was thinking I was special.

The Show Must Go On

April 16, 2008

Waaaah! It would seem the rumour I heard is confirmed. Warrick Brown will be no more on CSI.

That sucks. I mean I know shows can go on without a character but CSI is my favourite show and I loved the ensemble and the chemistry. As much as Sara Sidle annoyed me at times (nothing against Jorja Fox I think that is part of who Sara was so she played it well), I’ve missed her character too. At least Grissom is coming back. William Petersen is my boyfriend. I love his little ducky walk. ;)

Wonder if Warrick is gonna go out with a real bang?

Boo.

On another note, when does the PAUSE happen in perimenopause? The way I’m flying through these eggs I should be through it all by now. I’m cranking up production baby, it’s like puberty all over again.
