Went to the movies tonight and can I say Knocked Up is hillarious! Funny. As. Hell.
Total recommendation. If you loved 40 Year Old Virgin you will love this. If you didn’t you will love this. Go see it, go see it now!

A shopping we will go…
June 17, 2007We rose early yesterday to try and beat the “Hey the US exchange rate rocks so let’s all go shopping” crowd. When we got there the lineup wasn’t bad considering but it moved sloooowly.
We heard later on there was some problems with the computer system but they were also checking trunks on everyone so that would slow things down a bit more but whatever. It moved and at least it wasn’t three hours waiting.
By the time we were across the line we were hungry and craving the old coffee boost so we stopped at the Bellingham IHOP.
The waitress has to learn that not everyone drinks coffee black (left no room for milk!)
We hit up both Ross which was horribly picked over and the mall and managed to get ourselves each a few goodies. I got three new pairs of shoes, all ballet slipper style flats which was perfect…
..along with a few new tops and shower gels from Bath and Body Works. Tom got several pairs of new shorts and stuff and of course his rubber chicken. All in all a fairly successful shopping trip.
We did manage to get a reservation for lunch at Anthony’s but it was a squeaker. It would seem the place is a lot more popular now. In the old days it was busy but we could always walk in and get seated within a reasonable amount of time but now it seems like you need to reserve a table in advance.
The food was good though as always..

Afterwards we managed to take a little walk around the harbour between raindrops and grab a few photos. It was pretty cold so I didn’t keep Tom out too long (wussy!) and there was plenty of people out flying kites as it was pretty windy so it gave us some photo ops.
There were some pretty neat kites out there, some of them were HUGE.
This fella made a couple of the kites himself. From some angles they looked like snowflakes and others like they were solid.
The line coming back across was blessedly short and although we had to pay taxes on the stuff coming home we still made out like bandits. The exchange rate is so great right now and all of our stuff were bargains!

Growin’ up, you don’t see the writing on the wall
June 15, 2007In keeping with my nostalgic feelings of late and wondering how old friends/boyfriends were doing, I had a surprise the other day when I was contacted by my very first boyfriend (from when I was 15) via Facebook. I had signed up for an account a long time ago but never found anyone on there that I knew so I kind of forgot about it. I checked it out again a few weeks ago and found maybe half a dozen people from my highschool in the various grades surrounding mine that I even remembered, never mind liked but I decided to add my highschool to my profile and left it alone again.
It was nice to catch up, we had remained good friends after we broke up. Our “coupling” had resulted in the merging of our two crowds in school and we all remained a group after graduation and into work or University days meeting for parties etc until the drift inevitably happened. How St. Elmo’s Fire of us. (awful awful movie)
It would seem both of us married relatively young (though I had him beat by several years) and have both since found happiness with our second spouses.
That is a few of us now that have all divorced and either are happily single or happily remarried. Speaks of the statistics right there and it is only a smallish sample.
I’m taking it a bit easier today apart from playing taxi once again (and you’re right Sue it sure doesn’t qualify as relaxy time but then again I’m a sucker!) It has been really nice these last couple of days though just puttering around here. I could so get used to this.
We are off to Bellingham tomorrow for the day, just the two of us this time. I will happliy be feeding my Ross monkey and Tom has run out of his favourite coffee additive, needs his rubber chicken fix and wants more of the much superior American Oreos so we will be hitting up the bulk and grocery stores while we’re there as well. The evening will end with dinner at Anthony’s (hopefully anyway! Last time we were screwed cos they were busy.)
Too bad it will be raining! Ah well.

Mini-break?
June 14, 2007I took today and tomorrow off work to give myself a short vacation from work related stress.
How is it going so far?
Well this morning I got up early (6:30 am) to drive the Boy to work (sucker!) and then turned around and drove Sean to school (sucker again!). I’ve done two loads of laundry, emptied the dishwasher, loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned all the crap off the various horizontal surfaces the boys think are for putting their shit on and polished said surfaces all before 9:30 am.
I think I need to look up the meaning of the word vacation day.
