A sculptor after my own heart

January 18, 2007

More snow fell today, which was more on the slushy side. Poor Freddy (my car) I found doesn’t do all that well in slush. I tried going up the ramp from our underground but my tires had a different idea. I got halfway up and started sliding down/sideways. Luckily I stopped before hitting the wall and backed down ever so slowly and went out the other flatter exit. Lesson learned, next time don’t even try the hill.

I got this in an email today and it completely expresses how I feel.

Whoever made this, I salute you!

Golden Globes couch patrol check in

January 15, 2007

Ok, so I’m still totally watching the show even though Google saw fit to post some of the winners on their main page (yah THANKS Google, grab a clue hold off on posting the winners until BOTH coasts have a shot at watching it Mkay?)

Same ol’ same ol’ blah blah, good and bad fashion and too many shots of Jack Nicholson.

But I have to say one thing; Hugh Laurie and Meryl Streep (who I love love love) should be given every award on the planet on a continuous loop so I get to keep seeing/hearing them make acceptance speeches because that is frickin’ entertainment.

They should have babies, they would exit the womb making the funny.

Warren Beatty on the other hand. Oh man, someone take pity, take that mic away from him!

Saturday Birthaversary

January 14, 2007

My stomach stabilized and so did the weather so we managed to make it down to Bellingham on Saturday and both of us scored some new duds at Ross so yay! We also hit the mall and picked up our traditional mall pretzel for later that night.

This was one of our rare days off together and a ‘birthaversary’ celebration of sorts.

The wait for the border was something like 15 minutes which compared to our last trip down was a piece of cake.

Our luck with restaurants wasn’t as good this time. The traditional IHOP stop turned into a visit to the Denny’s (which isn’t as good) and Anthony’s our favourite place down there was booked solid until after 8:00 pm. We’ve never had a problem getting in there same day in the past. Well, lesson learned. We will definitely be making reservations in advance now.

We were down towards the water anyway so we stopped to take some photos. The area is really lovely, but brrrrrr it was FREAKING COLD!

We only went for a brief walkabout compared to what we normally do on a slightly less bone-chilling day.

The rest of my photos are Here on Flickr (Tom’s aren’t posted yet)

We ended up going to the OG in Bellingham really because it isn’t exactly a mecca of interesting places. There are a lot of the typical chain restaurants so we figured this was the better of the choices remaining. We noticed though that the ambiance in this place wasn’t quite up to what we are used to with the Langley OG. They at least try to make it seem like they want you to relax and enjoy your visit. The lighting and decor in this Bellingham Olive Garden is quite harsh so it’s more like an eat and get the hell out kind of atmosphere. Eh, we weren’t exactly planning to stay that long anyway.

After a brief stop over in to pick up his prized Marie Callendar frozen chicken meals for work (one of the main things he misses from the States) and some other foodie items that we just can’t get up here, we headed for the border. The wait time wasn’t bad and this time we did get pulled inside to pay the taxes on our booty, we were due for it. Truly not a big deal though as we got such great stuff and for so cheap (I love the US shopping experience) or stuff that we just can’t get up here that it was so worth it.

The rest of our day off together, we relaxed and watched a marathon of Arrested Developments. Good times!

Birthday bug

January 12, 2007

Well, it wasn’t really the way I expected to celebrate my 41st birthday. I ended up with some kind of nasty stomach virus which led to spending a whole lot more time in the bathroom that I really would like. I won’t bore or gross anyone out with the details but I will say it sure took a lot out of me.

After I got back to bed I found myself absolutely frozen. Ice cold. I got up again put on a sweatshirt and socks and believe me I avoid layers and socks in the house like the plague so it took a lot to get me to that point. I was still frozen solid after that with my teeth chattering so my wonderful Tom got up and got me an extra blanket as well to double up over me. Eventually I passed out again, passed out and-how! I didn’t hear him get up, check the computer or leave to take Sean to school and do my Mother’s grocery shopping.

I eventually woke up, gosh somewhere around noon and Chris and Tom gave me my presents. Cinny was quite intrigued by the big gift bag!

Tall gift bag is intriguing

Me with my gifts

Sick for my birthday, not the ideal way

Yeah I know I look awful. I was feeling sick.

lava lamp

I got a very cool PINK lava lamp as a new twin to my old one. The plan is to eventually get a room in our dream house that I can decorate all Mod and stuff.

Peace man!

I also got season two of Grey’s Anatomy from Tom, (yay!!) a book of my wish list and a cute pink book light.

Chris got me some awesome votive candles and candle holders that it turns out matches a vase I bought a while back just perfectly.

Thanking Chris for my birthday candles and candle holders

Hopefully I’ll be feeling near 100% tomorrow. The plan to go to Bellingham is on hold but we will still head out to dinner. Officially it’s our Anniversary dinner as the Boys are at their Father’s this weekend. We will do my official Birthday dinner next week which is our actual anniversary so they can come celebrate and enjoy that dinner. I know confusing but it works.

Is there a 12 step program for this?
