It was only a wax dingle, how bad can that be?

December 31, 2006

Looking at my blog stats I discovered that Tom and I have become somewhat ‘infamous’ in the Google image world. I’ve had many interesting and yes, even disturbing search strings hit this blog but a couple of them have really amused me.

If you do a Google image search (don’t use the standard web search, click the link beside web that says ‘images’ and then do the search) for ‘Stockard Channing’ Tom is only a few pages in (pages 4+5+6 as of now) holding the Stockard Channing autographed picture I got for him. The searchers are probably wondering why the heck he’s in there but, whatever. I said to him “Yanno.., maybe Stockard Channing Googles herself and will find you. And hey! Be flattered!”

If you do? Stockard honey? Honestly, he loves you and I’m ok with that.

On another hand my Google image ‘infamy’ is a little more, oh, I don’t know, bizarre?

Try google image searching “George Clooney crotch” and see who you find….

George, if for some reason you ever google image search yourself? You were wax. I’m naughty. What can I say? Everyone else was MARRYING you for God’s sake. At least *I* wasn’t trying to pin your wax self down. Plus, I’m not the one that actually originally searched for your crotch on the Internets someone else did. K? (Although I’m sure your crotch is awesome, just sayin’..)

Happy New Year Interweb!

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

December 29, 2006

Just about 11 months ago Sean started his braces adventure with the spacers, the palatial expander and then a month and a half ago, the braces themselves.

Day one (Feb 2006) Before palatial expander

December 28th 2006. Oh my God look how much it’s changed in such a short time!

The progress has been nothing short of amazing so far. Sean’s Orthodontist said to me the day the braces went on “this will change his life” and she is so right. When she told me that by early in the new year Sean’s teeth would be pretty much straight I was blown away, I thought how could that be? Now I see how far he’s come in the last month and a half, yeah, now I believe it.

His journey is far from over, he still has to wear the braces up until he has the surgery to move his jaw sometime in the next year, then it’s maybe more braces and/or just the retainer, not to sure on that yet.

We both figure documenting this will be good for us to look back on and also to help out anyone who’s about to go through this themselves. We did research on the net and found other people’s stories, so maybe his story will ease the minds of another family somewhere out there.

Wrapping up Christmas

December 27, 2006

Well, Christmas was a resounding success.

Turkey was ‘et, presents were opened and wine was consumed and phew it’s over for another year. Of course now the tree standing there is driving me nuts but it’s only for a few more days. Hey, at least I’m not as bad as I was in the past where it came down Boxing Day.

Dinner went well. Or at least I didn’t kill anyone so that’s a good thing! I totally forgot that Cinny tries to give new meaning to ‘the warmth of the season’ .. I busted her on the stove after the turkey had gone in the oven for a while. Her butt was hanging over the door vent so she could get all the heat possible BAD CAT!

We were all very spoiled this year and it was a lot of fun.

My Mom got a bunch of smelly stuff, including a perfume set that she had wanted from Estee Lauder (Youth Dew)…

No ‘Orgasm’ this year

She was also loaded up with stocking stuff to open the next day.

Chris got a bunch of games, game stuff, grooming stuff and a bottle of Givenchy smelly stuff he likes.

Sean wanted a camera really badly. Of course we had him on for the last few weeks telling him he’d best hope he gets enough cash to buy himself a camera. He was actually surprised!

We pre-loaded a picture on it for him….which made him laugh.

Here’s a couple of photographs he took with it…

We opened the gifts from the Chris and from my Mom and vice-versa and from us to the Boys and the gifts we received from Tom’s Sisters and Mom. We are soooo going shopping on the great gift cards and Amazon gift certs. We also got a really cool DVD from Sister Linda about New Orleans. Part of the proceeds go to rebuilding efforts which is awesome.

Chris got Tom some really cool tools and stuff and I got TWO different salt/pepper thingies and a spice rack. He was all stressy about buying the perfect thing and he did really well. The Boys were to head over to their Father’s that night and Tom had to work so after the gift opening we drove everyone to their destination and I accompanied Tom to the station.

Afterwards we headed home, opened up some wine and exchanged our gifts to each other. We had a great time taking turns opening things. I got a chain so I can finally wear the lovely pendant that I got from Tom (the old chain wasn’t working) and he got me some beautiful earrings and DVDs (including two of a British show that I love all the way from jolly old England yay we finally got to use our world-wide dvd player) and girlie-stuff galore.

I got Tom a new work briefcase, and a bunch of photo stuff.. leading up to a new camera.

Now he has NOOOOO excuses to not take photos when we are out. I love his eye. Here’s an example of a picture he took playing around with the settings. I love this one! Gorgeous!!

Christmas Eve, Eve

December 23, 2006

Well, Tom can be added to the “I’m done” list as of the other day, Chris? Not so much. He’s out doing his last minute shopping like a whole bunch of other people today. Ick.

We’re busy tidying up the place for our celebrations tomorrow night (we do it the Scandinavian way as tradition holds) with my Mom. We do the dinner and we will all open gifts from the Boys to my Mom/Us and vice-versa.

The Boys will then go spend the night at their Father’s house tomorrow (as it’s his turn) and I will be accompanying Tom to the station tomorrow night after dinner as he’s scheduled to work the last broadcast on Christmas Eve. After that we will head home, crack open some wine and open our gifts to each other as it will be officially Christmas morning, although pretty early in it.

Tom and I usually eat the turkey leftovers on Christmas day, the Boys get another dinner at one of their Grandparents on their Father’s side, open more gifts and then get dropped off later that evening.

Speaking of turkey, as usual our crazy fridge hasn’t let the damn turkey defrost one iota, so I’m doing the dunk method of defrosting. Whatever. As long as the thing is fully defrosted for tomorrow it’s all good. We really need to think about replacing the fridge. I mean it’s cranked up to maximum to keep the tenuous cold/frozen balance going and it’s got to be costing us a fortune in electricity. Ah well, something to consider in the new year.

Damn turkey still not defrosted so doing the sink method

I sent Tom to work today with some cookies I baked for the weekend crew. Later I’m going to put together this cookie dessert thing my Mom used to make when I was a kid. I really loved it, it’s kind of like a sliced stripey icecream sandwich thing, except it’s made with whipped cream. Hopefully it will turn out, I mean I’m not exactly Martha Stewart but I mean well!

Anyway, back to the grind.

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!
