I didn’t do it…

You’d think she’d learn. This damage was done a while back, but every time we change the sheets she jumps up on the bed and sllloooowwwwly creeps back to that same spot and gets in trouble.
She follows the same rule of thumb all animals do. If she doesn’t make eye contact, you don’t see her.

Sean is officially a free man, well free of his palatial expander as of this week. His Ortho office is so good to him, they just love him. They knew he’s been without anything sticky or hard and crunchy in the way of candy for the last six months, so for a treat they gave him gift bag of candy and of course a toothbrush.
He’s got another couple of weeks before his wisdom’s come out along with a couple of other teeth and then another month after that until they do the moulds for the braces and finally put them on. Poor kid has canker sores from his teeth and his Ortho said he will probably continue to get them from his braces, but at least he’s on the road nice straight teeth so it’s not forever.
I got my glasses back from the Optician’s but there seems to now be a small space between the top of the glass and the frame, enough to slip a piece of paper through, I know who would do that? Well I did! Plus the frames creak on that side. Gah! I’m going to have to call them back and complain yet again. I’m almost ready to give up on these frames. I guess I can put up with the gap as long as the glass doesn’t fall out. Not like it’s visible to anyone looking at me, you have to hold it up to the light to see it but *I* know it’s there and trust me I obsess over things.
Tom had today off and has tomorrow off too yay! That means we actually get to see each other for a whole day (which seems like a reasonable thing to ask when you’re married right?) It happens rarely though so we’re going to enjoy it. We’re going to go out for breakfast AND dinner tomorrow and spoil ourselves.
Work has been crazy busy, heading into some heavy testing in some of my projects, several of them release on the same day which means I’m going to be pretty busy up until late October. I still have 13 vacation days to book and not sure when I’m going to be able to fit them in. I’m thinking maybe one week leading up to Christmas, but that still leaves me 8 days… ah well I’m sure I will find some time in November for anther week and a day here and there to round it up until then.
Tonight we are planning on doing movie night, or rather DVD night and have some drinks and relax. Oh yeah and no kids so we get to be as loud as we want (heh).
Ahhhh I love weekends =)

Headline: November 1st 1979
Housewife tricked by two obese escapees from the Tammy Fae Baker makeup application rehabilitation center. Treats go missing.
A frightened housewife reported yesterday two ’stout swindlers’ showed up at her door demanding candy.
“They seemed nice at first” said Mrs. W of Burnaby, BC. “I mean, when I opened the door they smiled at me and to be honest I kind of felt sorry for them being so chunky, then I noticed that one of them well, ’stuffed’. It was obvious, I could see the pillow hanging out of their shirt. I guess they knew I was on to them because the next thing I knew they held out pillowcases and yelled at me.”
Mrs. W goes on to report that the suspects forced her to hand over handfuls of candy, practically cleaning her out.
Police have identified the desperate pair to be T. Dee and T. Dum, also of Burnaby.
As of press time the suspects are still at large.

Our house is an obstacle course. This is part and parcel of having kids sure, but as the kids get older one hopes that maybe, just maybe it will change.
I’ve spent the better part of my adult life carefully picking my way over assorted toys, games, dropped food items (to avoid grinding them into the carpet/floor) and I would really really REALLY like to stop.
I once tripped over what I thought was a stuffed monkey years ago (it was a cat of Sean’s) and hurt the same foot I had fractured the top of back in ‘99 and it’s been called my ‘monkey foot’ ever since.
I’ve had some pretty gross incidents as well.
Sean was notorious for leaving food festering in his backpack which would eventually find it’s way into his bedroom while digging for homework or whatever. Once it was half a banana in a baggie. By this time the banana was no longer banana shaped it was, in fact a baggie full of brown mush. For some reason I cannot recall I had attempted to navigate the floor of their room a very brave act I must assure you. During the trip back I ‘found’ the baggie of banana. It was cold and soft and gross and still gives me nightmares *shudder*.
Lately though it’s more video game shit, clothes, candy wrappers casually piled up on tables that get knocked onto floors oh yeah, and spills. Spills of all kinds. Food spills, drink spills. One of my biggest pet peeves is the sticky floor. The sticky floor is usually a result of the drink spill with the furtive clean up attempt. You know, the kind where you wipe up the liquid but don’t use water, soap or anything that may actually clean it up.
Chris worked until eight tonight and after I drove him home I reminded him to throw his uniform into the laundry. After a while I realized that the clothes hadn’t moved from washer to dryer so I decided to be a nice Mom and do it for him. I didn’t look down. Mistake.
To my utter dismay I found myself skidding towards the wall, waving my arms around to keep myself upright on the nice big blob of soap on the floor in front of the washer. Damn, is the boy trying to kill me or something? Like I need help being accident prone, trust me I do well enough on my own.

A few months back I bought a new pair of Dolce and Gabbana frames which I think make me look slightly less dorky than I normally look in glasses. Which really isn’t saying much.
The process of choosing frames is AGONIZING for all concerned; me, the poor clerk in the store who literally hands me dozens of frames for me to put on/make face at/whip off in horror/discard and my poor family if they are brave enough to come with me.
Anyway, I found this pair and all was going well until my glasses and I had a falling out, literally.
I was at work sitting at my desk talking to a colleague on the phone when all of a sudden my world seemed to go off-kilter. I was looking at my computer screen and I just couldn’t focus. I had a fleeting momentary thought of “oh my god I’m having a stroke or something” when I looked down and saw one of my lenses laying on my desk.
“What the hell?” I shouted into the phone “Oh no not you….uhh sorry” and then started laughing hysterically. The person I was talking to thought I had completely lost it and I tried to explain, gave up and just said “never mind”.
It happened again on the plane to Vegas so I took them back. They’ve tried ordering new lenses to see if that will work (I pick them up tomorrow, crossing fingers) and if not it may be ‘a bad frame design’ and they will ask me to pick out different frames. Greaaaat! Not a problem! She says that now, just wait to see how her tune changes if she’s the poor soul that has to help me through that process.
