Computer, memory card, all kinds of geek joy

July 17, 2005

I was such a lazy cow yesterday I ate corn for dinner… corn, nothing else with it. I didn’t feel like going anywhere and we were severely running low on food. Now I love corn as much as the next person, but I forgot how hard it was to digest if you eat it in any large quantity. I think I produced enough gas to power a small nation!!
I know TMI…..

Anyway, as the kids would be back from their Father’s today I knew I would have to venture out of the house. I waited until they arrived and took Sean with me to the store. He’s always good company and he likes to get out and about. We stopped by Future Shop first because they had a good deal on 1 Gig SD cards, 1 GIG!!! This is awesome and perfect timing so we have enough memory for all the photos we are bound to take while we are away. It was a mail in rebate thingie, but even the price of SD cards has come down from what they were. It cost something like $89.00 for a 1 Gig, when it probably cost me 35-40 bucks for my present 128MB card.

It was quite the exercise trying to pick them up though. There weren’t any to be found, not even displayed so I asked. They at first told me they thought they were all gone but then they checked inventory and found out there were 25 in the store. It took them about 15 minutes to locate them (locked in a storage container in the back room) but I walked out with one yay!!!

Muahhhhhh

My only complaint so far is that there is an issue with Nortons Internet Security that was preloaded on it. When I patched the OS and various other security patches it tried to reconfigure itself and says that it needs to be uninstalled, then reinstalled. Well.. yeah that’s great Dell…. you don’t provide the programs on a disc anymore (other than MS Office)It still appears to be working ok, it’s scanning email etc… just keeps on displaying this error message.

We need to pick up a new wrist rest and a better mouse pad. I am hating the one that we have with it now, and the wrist rest is my old old work one which is pretty gross by now all these years later…

The BEST part is, the kid (Chris) is out of our office on his own computer again. I couldn’t get him out of our room, he was glued to the computer from the minute it was free until bed!

Tomorrow we have to go sign the loan papers for the computer (zero percent interest thank you very much!) and then I have an appointment to get the car inspected by ICBC. Hopefully that won’t take forever. The last time I was in there was a few years ago after my old car was broken into. I showed up on time and ended up waiting for the dude to be free and I was bored out of my mind waiting. *note to self bring a book*

I booked the cats boarding too so we are all set to take off on Thursday morning. I can’t wait until we get away from here for a while. We haven’t had a proper holiday in a while and the last couple have been with the Boys so this will be fun, just having the couple time!!
